SCOOP begins, Cody Scoops

The PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker has started. With more European friendly starting times and a US player blackout, prizepools are nowhere near last year's figure but numbers are still decent and the big events have attracted the cream of European poker. One person who fits in that category is Jake Cody. Winner of an EPT and WPT, Mr Cody just ticked another box for his poker resume, taking down SCOOP event 2, a $2100 high roller buyin.

621 players took to the felt, creating a prizepool of over $1.2 million. It was a field packed with poker’s elite and it will long go down in the memory thanks to one particular hand played by everyone’s favourite degen, Viktor Blom. Blom had amassed a huge stack of chips and was playing his normal fearlessly aggressive style around the bubble when he locked horns with Caio ‘caio_pimenta’ of Brazil in this crazy hand:

Caio Pimenta didn’t manage to make optimum use of the 400BB stack he had after this insane hand and eventually busted in 24th spot. Instead it was Jake ‘in Y0UR F4CE’ Cody who made it to the final as chip leader and it stayed that way until the end. After a gruelling heads up battle for an hour and a half, in Y0UR F4CE’s 88 held against the AQ of Schappuscha and that was it. Another day, another $230k in the pocket of Jake Cody. Well played that man.
