WSOP Roundup - Week 3

Whilst we've all been celebrating Jake, Jarred's and Matt's successes the WSOP has not stopped and other Brits such as Jon "LUFCBAS" Spinks and Richard "Chufty" Ashby have had nice scores.

After coming an impressive 4th in the $10,000 Omaha Hi-Lo for $ 161,379, Chufty found himself at the final table of the $10,000 2-7 Lowball Championship. On a final table that was littered with high stakes professional players such as John Juanda and Greg Raymer there was also a Mr Hellmuth would be trying make bracelet number 12. Chufty however went in with the chip lead and regained composure to improve on his finish in the Omaha Hi-Lo Championship and get three handed against Juanda and Hellmuth. The Poker Brat held a huge chip lead and unfortunately for Ashby it would be Juanda who would reach heads up against the guy everybody loves to hate. Juanda eventually turned the chip lead upside down and took both the bracelet and the $367,170. Meanwhile Hellmuth walked off in the distance, obviously not quietly, telling everybody how it was "so so sick".

In theory a shootout seems pretty easy. Win 3 SNG's and get a bracelet. Easy huh? Well its not so easy when anybody who is anybody is playing in the same event. In a star studed field Jon Spinks would win both of his first two tables to put him in the last 18 of Event#13 alongside other circuit regulars such as Vitaly Lunkin, Dan Kelly and David "The Dragon" Pham. Spinks went straight to work chipping up and eventually found himself on the final table. With 5 players left his AQ was outdrawn by A10 AIPF when his opponent spiked a 10 on the turn and another possible UK bracelet was snatched away at the final hurdle. Spinks had already finaled the $1500 Stud event previously in the series and many expect him to continue his success and come back from Vegas with some gold!

There were also successes for Brain Rast ($227,232 - Event #15: $1,500 Pot-Limit Hold'em) Aaron Steury ($298,983 - Event #17: $1,500 H.O.R.S.E ) and Tyler Bonkowski($220,817 - Event #14: $3,000 Limit Hold'em)
